John Wilton

Mr. Wilton, a Managing Director, joined Farallon in 2006.

He currently serves as the Director of International Research, having focused on global economics, macroeconomic policy, finance and risk for over twenty years.  Prior to joining Farallon, Mr. Wilton was acting CFO and Vice President of Strategy, Finance and Risk Management for the World Bank where he was responsible for the Bank’s overall business strategy and related financial, risk and resources management issues. Prior to this assignment he was Director and Chief Credit Officer responsible for assessing the sovereign credit risk and country creditworthiness of borrowers from the World Bank. He joined the World Bank in 1982 and has worked in most parts of the Bank, including operations in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe as well as in the Economic Research and Treasury departments. At various times he has chaired the Finance Committee, Pension Committee and Credit Committee as well as representing the Bank on a number of global working groups.

Mr. Wilton received his B.A with Honors in economics/politics/philosophy, and his M.A. in development economics/statistics from Sussex University in England. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was a doctoral candidate in economics at the University of Cambridge.
